LinkedIn Lead Generation: We Know it can be Tough!

This blog post is for all my peeps out there that are giving LinkedIn Lead Generation a try and feel like they have hit a wall. It can be tough…No scratch that…it is tough but it is also well worth the effort.

I want to share a story of a friend of mine… not a client…an actual friend and his journey to success with LinkedIn Lead Generation. My friend is a highly motivated individual, sometimes jumping into things before thinking them out.

While being motivated is a great trait without the proper discipline things can be a disaster. Think about it, a Drug Lord is a highly motivated individual but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are on the right path.

Everything but the kitchen sink…

My friend spent months trying everything out, he did his own SEO, did email marketing, he started up accounts on all the “hot” social media platforms and he invested quite a bit in Adwords and Facebook ads. Now while this may have worked for some it didn’t turn out so well for my friend.

Why?

Simple…he didn’t know what the heck he was doing and he was spreading himself short juggling too many things at once. When he saw things crumbling around him he decided to reach out to me and ask for some advice.

After giving his marketing model a look I came to the conclusion that he just wasn’t speaking to the right audience. He might as well have been speaking to a wall for the last 6 months. Seriously! That’s how bad it was.

My two cents

I finally gave him my recommendation and I must say it was a bit bold but it worked in the end. I told him to cut down on all the other marketing tactics and to put his focus on LinkedIn Lead Generation. His product focused on training corporate leaders, so what better place to reach out to these individuals than on LinkedIn!

He’s finally at the point that he is bringing in 120ish new qualified leads a month (may sound small but in his industry, it’s actually an excellent number) out of those leads a good 10 percent actually convert into long lasting high-end customers. While he may be spending more money on his LinkedIn ads he is definitely bringing in a higher ROI.

So what’s the point of my story?

Not to give up on LinkedIn Lead Generation! While the LinkedIn platform may not be as flashy and cool as other platforms it gets the job done of bringing in new leads and putting you in contact with other businesses and after all isn’t that what your business really needs?
